Dr. Greg McWatt
Veterinarian & Owner
Dr. McWatt earned his degree as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in Guelph 1987, is the Owner and Director of Baywood and Baywood South Animal Hospitals and a partner and past board member of the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. He attends numerous conferences related to veterinary continuing education as well as courses in leadership, communication, and personal development.
Greg and his family live in the east end of Barrie where he’s an active community participant. A member and a past President of the Rotary Club of Barrie, a board member on leave for Canine Opportunity, People Empowerment (C.O.P.E.) he loves to play hockey, golf, travel and ride the single track mountain bike trails of Simcoe County.
Dr. Melissa Gillard graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. Upon graduation, she practiced in Thunder Bay before moving to Barrie in the spring of 2013. Dr. Gillard is an advocate of preventative medicine, appropriate dental care and enjoys working up complex cases. She takes pleasure in developing client relationships and helping owners understand their pet’s medical needs.
Dr. Gillard’s interests outside of veterinary medicine include paddling and exploring the outdoors with her husband and her son, John and John Jr. At home, she shares her house with her whippet, Infiniti, and two cats, Pixel and Annie. Dr. Gillard looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members!
Dr. Briiann Dawson is a graduate of Murdoch University Perth Western Australia. Since 2006, she has been providing veterinary care to pets in the Barrie and Collingwood areas. Growing up with horses, dogs, cats, goats and competing in hunter jumper competitions, Dr. Brii knew at a young age that animals would be a huge part and love of her life. As a world traveler, experience gained over the years included dolphin, wallaby and fur seal research at McQuarie University in Sydney Australia and Satyrid Butterfly research a Queen's University Biology Station during her undergraduate degree.
Some of Dr. Brii's other favourite activities include hiking, yoga, windsurfing, surfing and snowboarding with her family. Dr. Brii lives in Collingwood with her 3 beautiful children, her husband and own personal Chef Chris, and her 6 fur babies, "Tilly" cat, "Chewy" chihuahua, Willow" the whippet, her two parrots "Mia" and "Azul" as well as her favourite equine friend "Fleur de Lyse". Dr. Dawson's goal is to provide best preventative veterinary care to her patients and clients.
Hospital Director & Manager
Donni graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1980 and has worked at Baywood Animal Hospital since 1993. She obtained a diploma in Veterinary Hospital Management from St. Lawrence College in 1996 and has attended numerous continuing education events in communication, systems management, human resources, client services and team building.
Donni is constantly striving to ensure that all Baywood Animal Hospital employees have a well balanced work/life schedule, and that Baywood and Baywood South Animal Hospitals remain stimulating environments for all staff. She also continues to train and mentor the staff ensuring that clients and their pets always have the caring and quality veterinary experience they expect.
Donni lives in Barrie and enjoys walking the Simcoe County trails with her dog, Ritz. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, gardening and travel.
Carly graduated from the University of Guelph in April of 2016 with a Bachelors of Commerce degree along with a certificate in Leadership. Carly's interest in veterinary medicine started in high school while completing her co-op placement at a local veterinary clinic, which eventually led to a veterinary assistant position. During her undergraduate studies, she joined the Baywood team in June 2014 as a part time receptionist. In 2017, she took on the role of Hospital Manager and currently oversees both Baywood South Animal Hospital and Animal Hospital of Gravenhurst, the newest addition to the Baywood family as of 2016.
Carly loves being able to combine her experience in business with her passion for animals. She always seeks to create a positive and collaborative work environment for the staff and comfortable experiences for clients and their pets . She looks forward to continue building rapports with you and your pet(s)!
Dillys joined the Baywood South Animal Hospital team in March 2018 as a part-time receptionist. Meeting and greeting the clients and 4-legged patients is a highlight for Dillys, especially making everyone feel welcome.
Dillys is a local resident with two adult children; Brian and Leah, and two 4-legged children; Bella and Coco. Dillys is an avid cottager and enjoys boating, sailing and scuba-diving with friends and family. Music, travel and watercolour painting are additional interests of hers.
Dillys looks forward to meeting both you and your furry loved ones.
Client Care Representative
Nikki joined the Baywood South Animal Hospital team in January 2020 as a client care representative. She has always loved working with animals and is happy to be able to combine this with her love of client care. Nikki loves to be involved in all aspects of the clinic and enjoys helping patients and clients in anyway she can. She is always eager to learn more in order to create the best experience for you and your furry family members. Nikki enjoys spending her days off going for hikes with her dog Murphy, cooking, and being with her family and friends.
Molly joined the Baywood South Animal Hospital team in November of 2017, as a recent graduate from the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College, where she received two awards for her academics. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph. Molly enjoys all aspects of her job which include helping in the exam room, completing lab work, assisting with surgery and anesthesia and especially nursing patients. Molly loves fussing over pets as they arrive and leave the clinic in hopes of making their visit less stressful.
In her spare time, Molly enjoys spending time with her spunky tuxedo cats, Bagheera and Winnie, her rabbit, Poppy and her friends and family.
Keara joined the Baywood South Animal Hospital family after completing her grade 12 high school placement with the practice in October 2017. She started working part time as an animal care attendant while also working to obtain her Veterinary Technician diploma at Georgian College. When not working, Keara enjoys snuggling with her dogs and furthering her knowledge in veterinary medicine.
Animal Care AttendantLaurie
Laurie joined the Baywood South family in November 2020 as a part time Animal Care Attendant. Her passion and love of all animals started at a very early age when her family rescued and rehabilitated a family of baby skunks and later nurturing an orphaned baby groundhog. In addition to having the usual medley of domestic puppers and kitties growing up, she also owned a ferret and a horse named Lace.
Laurie is currently the fur mum of a 15 year old Golden Retriever named Copper along with her recent addition, a 6 month old mix breed rescue Hobbes. When Laurie isn’t happily looking after your fur babies, she can be found at the cottage with her husband Chris or in the forest hiking with her pups. Laurie looks forward to meeting you and your fur babies soon!
