Dr. Greg McWatt
Veterinarian & Owner
Dr. McWatt earned his degree as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) in Guelph 1987, is the Owner and Director of Baywood and Baywood South Animal Hospitals and a partner and past board member of the Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic. He attends numerous conferences related to veterinary continuing education as well as courses in leadership, communication, and personal development.
Greg and his family live in the east end of Barrie where he’s an active community participant. A member and a past President of the Rotary Club of Barrie, a board member on leave for Canine Opportunity, People Empowerment (C.O.P.E.) he loves to play hockey, golf, travel and ride the single track mountain bike trails of Simcoe County.
Dr. Melissa Gillard graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2010. Upon graduation, she practiced in Thunder Bay before moving to Barrie in the spring of 2013. Dr. Gillard is an advocate of preventative medicine and competent at working up complex cases.
Dr. Gillard’s interests include paddling and training for triathlons and spending time at home with her retired racing greyhound, Isosceles, and whippet, Infiniti, her wonderful and supportive husband, John, as well as baby, John. She takes pleasure in developing client relationships and helping owners understand their pet’s medical needs. Dr. Gillard looks forward to meeting you and your furry family members.
Hospital Director & Manager
Donni graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1980 and has worked at Baywood Animal Hospital since 1993. She obtained a diploma in Veterinary Hospital Management from St. Lawrence College in 1996 and has attended numerous continuing education events in communication, systems management, human resources, client services and team building.
Donni is constantly striving to ensure that all Baywood Animal Hospital employees have a well balanced work/life schedule, and that Baywood and Baywood South Animal Hospitals remain stimulating environments for all staff. She also continues to train and mentor the staff ensuring that clients and their pets always have the caring and quality veterinary experience they expect.
Donni lives in Barrie and enjoys walking the Simcoe County trails with her dog, Ritz. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, gardening and travel.
Carly graduated from the University of Guelph in April of 2016 with a Bachelors of Commerce Honours degree along with a certificate in Leadership. She joined the Baywood and Baywood South Animal Hospital team in June 2014 working seasonally as she completed her education. Prior to that, she was a veterinary assistant for three years. Carly has now taken on the role of Hospital Manager and is able to combine her background in business along with her passion for animals. Carly looks forward to continue building rapports with clients and their pets.
Katriona is a valuable member of the Baywood family for the last 14 years. She works at both Baywood South Animal Hospital and it's sister hospital, Baywood Animal Hospital located in Midhurst. Katriona has enjoyed being a part of the start up and continued success of Baywood South Animal Hospital. Her job has evolved from reception and now into a behind the scenes administration position managing the wellness plans and patient reminder system. Her diligence and dedication is in the best interest of your pet(s).
Katriona enjoys down time with her husband Paul and her feisty feline, Beefcake. She is passionate about travelling and works hard to fill her passport.
Dillys joined the Baywood South Animal Hospital team in March 2018 as a part-time Receptionist. Meeting and greeting the clients and 4-legged patients is a highlight for Dillys, especially making everyone feel welcome.
Dillys is a local resident with two adult children; Brian and Leah, and two 4-legged children; Bella and Coco. Dillys is an avid cottager and enjoys boating, sailing and scuba-diving with friends and family. Music, travel and watercolour painting are additional interests of hers.
Dillys looks forward to meeting both you and your furry loved ones.
Molly joined the Baywood South Animal Hospital team in November of 2017, as a recent graduate from the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College, where she received two awards for her academics. She also has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Guelph. Molly enjoys all aspects of her job which include helping in the exam room, completing lab work, assisting with surgery and anesthesia and especially nursing patients. Molly loves fussing over pets as they arrive and leave the clinic in hopes of making their visit less stressful.
In her spare time, Molly works for Ontario Parks and enjoys spending time with her spunky tuxedo cats, Bagheera and Winnie, her rabbit, Poppy and her friends and family.
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
Aly joined the Baywood South team in May 2017 after completing her student placement as part of the Veterinary Technician program at Georgian College. She passed her Veterinary Technician National Exam in August 2018 to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Aly has always loved animals and could never resist the urge to pet every one who walked by. Her childhood Labrador Retriever inspired her to help as many pets as she could. She now continues this tradition as she waits to find the right pet for her and her family to love. Aly loves every patient that walks through the door at Baywood South, and especially loves getting them worked up for Dr. Gillard before her appointments!
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and working part-time at Huronia Veterinary Emergency Clinic.
