Donni Ellis
Donni graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1980 and has worked at Baywood Animal Hospital since 1993. She obtained a diploma in Veterinary Hospital Management from St. Lawrence College. Donni has attended numerous continuing educations events in communication, management, human resources, and team building.
Donni is constantly striving to ensure that all Baywood Animal Hospital employees have a well balanced work/life schedule, and that Baywood remains a stimulating and fulfilling workplace for all. She also continues to provide a quality and caring veterinary experience for all clients and their pets.
Donni lives in Horseshoe Valley with her husband Rob and two children, Lauren and Michael. She has two special cats, Max and Mariah. She is a sports enthusiast who loves cycling, running, adventure racing, kayaking and canoeing. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, reading, travel and nurturing her friendships.
Veterinary Technicians
Jen Côté, RVT
Jen is a Registered Veterinary Technician, coming to us straight out of school in May 2006. Jen is a graduate from Seneca College (2006) where she received honours in the Veterinary Technician Program. She was also the Valedictorian for her class, and received awards for both leadership and academics. Prior to her time at Seneca, she attended McMaster University, where she studied psychology.
Jen has an avid interest in exotic pets, and is always willing to trim nails and give out advice on how to keep your exotic pet happy and healthy. She also has a keen interest in surgery and anesthesia, and strives to stay on top new and emerging techniques in this area with continuing education and extra training.
Jen and her husband, Steve, live in Barrie with their many pets, including a doberman named Chester, two siamese/ragdoll crosses (Kif and Morbo), birds, and a tortoise. Jen's interests include snowboarding and skiing, reading, and spending time at the cottage with friends.
Martha Winters, VT
Martha has been with Baywood Animal Hospital since 1988. She graduated from St. Clair College in Windsor in 1974. She has always been passionate about animals and truly believes that she has the perfect job. She will be there to greet your pet if he or she must come downstairs for treatment or surgery. She will ensure that your pet’s stay at the hospital will be as comfortable as possible. Martha can be seen outside at 7:30am walking the overnight patients and boarders. She assists the veterinarians and technicians with treatments, radiology, and surgical procedures. She has surgical instruments, drapes and gowns and cleaned packs sterilized and ready for each day's surgery.
Martha and her husband, Henry, live just outside of Thornton. They have three beautiful daughters, and are grandparents to another three! Martha has two cats, Levi and JoJo, who greet her at the door after a busy day at work.
Bethany Weston, RVT
Bethany is our most recent addition to the team, joining us in April 2009. She graduated from the veterinary technician program at Seneca College in 2004 and began her career in private practice. She then moved on to teaching in the Veterinary Technician program at a local college. Bethany has worked in veterinary clinics since she was 16 years old!
Bethany lives with one dog, Mitch, and 4 cats, Farley, Oliver, Mimi and Bubba. She is currently finishing her BA, and enjoys reading, gardening and home improvements.
Receptionists
Susan Montague
Susan joined Baywood Animal Hospital in April 1995. She is a graduate of Brock University. Her outgoing and friendly personality led her into the veterinary field. She gets the chance to work with your pets and interact with you. Susan enjoys her part-time position and feels fortunate to have both a great job and opportunity to be at home.
Susan is happily married to Mark, and has two sons, Harris and Duncan. Susan is a busy mom whom is involved scholastically and recreationally with her children and their activities. She can be found at the pool, the diamond, the rink or in the forest.
In her spare time Susan enjoys gardening, cottaging, pottery classes and volunteering as a Beaver Leader. Both she and Mark have friends from public and high school whom they enjoy camping and getting together with regularly.
As for four-legged companions, Susan has a golden retriever, Phoenix, and a cat that was rescued from the woodpile behind Baywood, Finlay.
Baywood Animal Hospital would not be the same without Susan's sunshine smile and personality.
Katriona MacLeod
Katriona has been with Baywood Animal Hospital since August of 2003. Before she joined the staff she took some time off from working and traveled around the world. She has traveled to Europe and lived in Australia for 10 months.
Katriona went back to school in the fall of 2006 to study travel and tourism. She lives in Barrie with her boyfriend and has a feisty cat named Beefy. She enjoys her time at Baywood Animal Hospital as she loves animals and could never imagine not having them in her life.
